I would open this by stating that I had used State Farm insurance for about 2 years while living in Omaha. Never had a single issue. 10/10. Now lets jump to Texas, specifically this office and agent.
I bought a new car, 2025. I had it quoted and insured through State Farm. Having just moved to Texas I had to apply for a new ID. A month ago I get my ID and the same day I get a letter from State Farm, this agent telling me that my policy will terminate on 10/8/2025 because I no longer hold a valid ID. I call the office and talk to someone, not the agent. He tells me to just text my new license to a number. this was about the 15th of September, I have the text. I got a second notice on the 23rd. I call again they assure me it was handled and my policy will not change. On the 23rd my info is submitted for underwriting, verified by State Farm.
Move to 10/10. Someone attempted to steal or vandalize my car, I call to have it towed to a shop not wanting it to sit with no window and full of broken glass. Only to be told my policy was termed on 10/8 because I was not a valid driver and they could not help me. So I drove my car to a place to store it until the next morning, I call this office and leave a message asking specifically for the agent to call me. After spending like an hour on the phone with a 1800 number agent the next day it turns out, the employee at this office did in fact enter my info to be updated and it got missed by the underwriting team. She was sorry, my policy would be reinstated, without losing any time covered so they would tow the car from where I had it to a shop and all that. Great. Never got a call from my agent, never got an apology or anything.
Jump to tonight, my policy is back in my billing section on the app. Now with an extra 110$ policy reinstatement fee and having my rate adjusted up 30 some dollars from what I was quoted. I called the 1800 number again, having to go to a supervisor to have my policies, all of them ended today. My complaint about my coverage ending on 10/8 was reopened explaining my ongoing issues with State Farm.
I did not expect anything, I did not ask for anything after their mistake. And maybe it is because I grew up small town, but I feel like this dude could have at least called me back if not to apologize then to at least discuss the events, like I asked. Nothing.
Anyway Geico quoted me like 50$ a month less for comparable coverage. If you want to go with State Farm I would use any other office. The 1800 reps are hit and miss but the supervisors are always helpful.
11/3 Jaime called me. I cut out part of my review of him as an agent. Nobody's prefect and he agreed that he should have been informed of what was going on with my policy and claim and if he knew exactly how bad it was handled he would have called me. If you have a valid grievance and he is aware. He does seem to want to do what is best for his customers. I'll consider another quote from state from in 6-12 months or whenever my policy is up.
